Washington, DC (July 30, 2025) — Today, America250, the bipartisan organization charged by Congress to lead celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, announced a national partnership with Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA). This partnership will build on GSUSA’s longstanding commitment to civic engagement, community service and making the world a better place.
From coast to coast and around the globe, Girl Scouts are creating real, lasting change — starting as young as age five. Whether it’s leading community cleanups, honoring first responders or championing voter registration, Girl Scouts show up every day to serve, lead and make a difference. Their impact is both immediate and enduring: each year, thousands of Girl Scouts earn the prestigious Gold Award, dedicating more than 240,000 hours to tackling critical issues in their communities. And they’re not alone — each extraordinary volunteer contributes an average of 120 hours of service annually, powering a Movement built on courage, compassion and action.
“Girl Scouts embody the best of American values – leadership, service, and an unwavering commitment to community,” said Rosie Rios, Chair of America250. “As we approach our nation’s 250th anniversary, this partnership celebrates our shared mission to educate and empower future generations of changemakers to lead with courage, confidence, and character. Together, we honor the past while inspiring the leaders of tomorrow.”
“For more than a century, Girl Scouts have been shaping the future of our nation — one girl, one act of service and one community at a time,” said Bonnie Barczykowski, CEO of GSUSA. “We’re proud to partner with America 250 and reflect on this milestone, the part Girl Scouts have played in our history, and how critical they’ll be to imagining and building a brighter future.”
This partnership builds on America250’s collaborations with other youth organizations. Partners like Girl Scouts are crucial in educating American youth, fostering reflection on our nation’s history and developing leaders who will stand up for issues they care about. Girl Scouts provides girls in grades K–12 the opportunity to make the world a better place through community service, civics badges and learning from leaders and mentors in their communities. Through their respective educational and service programs, America250 and GSUSA will engage girls across the country to celebrate this milestone in our nation’s history.
