On September 16, 2020, the United States Semiquincentennial Commission and the America 250 Foundation facilitated a virtual listening session to explore the question:

How can America 250 have a lasting impact on how Americans learn about, understand, and use American history?

After providing a brief introduction to the Commission’s vision and approach to America 250, the session engaged 15 leading history educators and thought leaders representing K-12 teachers, history institutions, and the academy in a facilitated conversation. The diverse panel explored various opportunities and challenges presented by America 250 ranging from the potential for this nationwide project to spark greater interest in American history to how America 250 might provide context for students to constructively engage in important historical issues despite the current climate of divisive politics.
