Washington, DC – Vermont Governor Phil Scott has signed an executive order creating the 250th Anniversary Commission to plan, coordinate and promote observances and activities that commemorate the historic events associated with the American Revolution in Vermont.  Vermont joins the growing number of states forming official entities to begin planning for America250 in 2026.  

State and territorial commissions will play a critical role in preparing the nation for the America250 observance while promoting opportunity, driving economic activity, increasing community engagement, and elevating the unique contributions and culture of each state and territory. 

States with Semiquincentennial commissions or related entities include Kentucky, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
