On September 23, 2020, the United States Semiquincentennial Commission and the America250 Foundation facilitated a virtual listening session exploring the question:

How can we leverage America250 to promote each state and territory’s unique contributions to America, drive economic activity, and increase community engagement?

After providing a brief introduction to the Commission’s vision for America250 and its emerging approach to involve states and territories, the session engaged 10 government officials and related nonprofit leaders drawn from states across the nation. The panel explored various opportunities and challenges presented by America250 ranging from the potential for this nationwide project to promote each state and territory and leave a legacy beyond 2026 to the best ways to implement the Commission’s decentralized programming approach at the state and territory level.
