Prior to joining America250, Millay was the director of communications for the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission (WSCC), the federal commission created by Congress to lead the nation’s commemoration of 100 years of the 19th Amendment in 2020. Before the WSCC, she worked with the National Woman’s Party (NWP), the historic nonprofit founded in 1913 that led the charge for a federal suffrage amendment in the final years of the movement. At the NWP, she managed the organization’s communications strategy and historical interpretation, and developed the traveling exhibit Standing Together: Women’s Ongoing Fight for Equality.

A resident of Charlottesville, Virginia, Millay earned her master’s degree in museum studies from George Washington University and her bachelor’s degree in English and economics from the University of Virginia.
