Emily Sexton serves as Chief Legal Officer of the America250 Foundation. In this role, Sexton is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the Foundation’s legal and compliance functions.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Sexton spent more than 15 years in the Office of the General Counsel at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the National Center for the Performing Arts and official memorial to President Kennedy within Washington, D.C. At the Kennedy Center, Sexton worked across the institution on everything from drafting complex vendor agreements to premiere events such as the Kennedy Center Honors and the Kennedy Center’s 50th Anniversary celebrations. Before the Kennedy Center, Sexton practiced trademark, copyright, and advertising law in the Washington, D.C. offices of DLA Piper and Baker & Hostetler.

Sexton holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and B.A. in Rhetoric from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
