About America250

2026 marks the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding. To observe this momentous occasion, the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission will encourage Americans to remember our past, celebrate the present, and look forward to a promising future.

The U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission was established by Congress (P.L. 114-196) to inspire Americans to participate in the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. We’re charged with orchestrating the largest and most inclusive anniversary observance in our nation’s history.

The Commission will work with public and private entities across the country to make America250 a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all Americans. Our partners will bring the essential ideas, expertise, relationships and resources necessary to engage all Americans, each American, and friends of America in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

This is America250

Our vision

America250 is the largest and most inclusive celebration in our nation’s history. A four-part framework guides the programming that will mark the anniversary of our founding.

This vision aims to inspire the American spirit in all of us. It grounds all our activities in our nation’s founding principles. And, it jumpstarts our journey toward a more perfect union.

By educating Americans, we will contribute to a better understanding of who we are, where we came from and where we’re headed. By engaging them, we’ll help citizens continue to shape our nation. And by uniting them, we’ll recognize the power of our diverse stories without losing sight of our common bonds.
